Creating an Exercise

What is an Exercise?
An exercise is a user submittable assignment in the LMS.
An exercise gives you the ability to:
- Assign and collect scheduled assignments.
- Give participants feedback on their submissions.
- Allow peers to evaluate a student's feedback.
A common scenario for using exercises is to have a student upload a word document for grading.
Adding an Exercise (File Upload)
1. Click ‘Add New Item’ followed by 'Exercise’.

2. Type the title of the exercise in the ‘Title’ field, add a description (this is optional), then click ‘Add Exercise’.

3. Now that the exercise has been added, you can add an assignment to it by clicking ‘Add Assignment’ next to ‘Upload’. In this case, ‘Upload’ would mean the user uploads a file to complete the assignment. There are also other options for submission listed in the drop-down menu.

4. The next page will allow you to choose the assignment’s settings: Title, Type of Submission, Instructions, Start Time, Deadline, etc. Once these are completed, click ‘Save’.

Manual & Automated Marking
You can decide whether someone added to the course as a tutor manually marks the assignment as passed, or if the assignment is marked as passed upon user submission. This can be done by selecting ‘Settings’, then ‘General Settings of the Exercise’.
